Opportunities for SPPTA Members

Program 2012-2013
St. Paul Piano Teachers offers a professional development program to meet the needs of its members. These meetings are based on the Professional Standards from the Music Teachers National Association: Professional Preparation, Professional Teaching Practices, Professional Business Management, Professional and Partnerships and Professional and Personal Renewal.
The general meetings and program may be used for MMTA re-certification. You will receive one point over five years for attending six meetings. Note: The December Holiday Tea and the February Home Meeting do not qualify for re-certification points.

All-Association Spring Luncheon
Hosted by the Minneapolis Teachers Forum
MMTF SPRING LUNCHEON
The Minneapolis Music Teachers Forum would like extend an invitation to all members of local associations to our Spring Luncheon. The program will feature Philip Brunelle who will be giving a presentation on “Music in These Amazing Twin Cities” at the Minnesota Valley Country Club in Bloomington. Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a brief meeting and our main program. A soup and sandwich buffet will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Minnesota Chicken Wild Rice soup, Caesar salad and choice of ham and cheese, roast beef or turkey sandwich. The cost of the luncheon is $22.
To register, send check payable to MMTF for $22 to Ruth Hembre, 16740 14th Ave. N., Plymouth, MN 55447. The postmarked deadline is April 2.

Book Club for Teachers
SPPTA members may also participate in the book club that reads and discusses books ranging from the enjoyment of making music to pedagogy practices. We meet from 10:00-11:30 a.m. the third Tuesday of the month at Care Latte in St. Paul. Attendance qualifies for MNTA certification points. Book Titles will be announced at general meetings. Contact Judy Sherman for more information.
