Program 2011-2012
St. Paul Piano Teachers offers a professional development program to meet the needs of its members.  These meetings are based on the Professional Standards from the Music Teachers National Association:  Professional Preparation, Professional Teaching Practices, Professional Business Management, Professional and Partnerships and Professional and Personal Renewal.

The general meetings and program may be used for MMTA re-certification.  You will receive one point over five years for attending six meetings.  Note:  The December Holiday Tea and the February Home Meeting do not qualify for re-certification points.

SPPTA 2011 Holiday Tea & Community Service Project
                           2nd Food Drive for Valley Outreach Food Shelf

As a community service project, St. Paul Piano Teachers Association will be collecting food donations and/or monetary donations for the Valley Outreach Food Shelf located in Stillwater, Minnesota at the Tuesday, December 13, 2011, SPPTA Holiday Tea. This will be an opportunity for community outreach and assisting others in their time of need.

 

Following is a list of possible donations needed at the food shelf.

Book Club for Teachers
SPPTA members may also participate in the book club that reads and discusses books ranging from the enjoyment of making music to pedagogy practices.  The SPPTA Book Club meets the third Tuesday of the month at various coffeeshops in St. Paul neighborhoods. Duet Group for Teachers
SPPTA members have the opportunity to make music with other members in an ensemble.  Members can set-up a duet or duo group to share music and good times. Any level of music is welcome. The duet group meets several times a year.  Contact Marilyn Henry for more information.




MMTA Piano Contest Materials Workshops
2010-2011


MMTA Piano Contest Materials Workshops provide an opportunity for teachers to learn about the current contest list music.  Attendance at three workshops in one school year will count toward re-certification. Please bring your directory with you to each session so it may be stamped. For workshop questions, call Dorothy Wick or Barb Rossow.

MusicLink
   SPPTA members are encouraged to consider reaching out to a child in need through the MusicLink program.  Any teacher willing to reduce the normal lesson fee by 50% or more can become a MusicLink teacher, opening the door to many benefits for a child who cannot afford full fee lessons.  SPPTA program fees are waived for MusicLink students and MusicLink teachers earn MMTA certification credit.

Mark your calendars for the next MusicLink Playathon which will take place on the weekend of Feb. 11/12, 2012.  Please encourage your students to participate in this exciting event which takes place in the Nordstrom Court at the Mall of America.  Everyone is welcome  (including teachers) to come and perform to raise funds for the MusicLink program.
